The most popular places in Dublin

O'Connell Street is the heart of Dublin and the most important avenue of the town. It's a summary of fast food, hotels, restaurants and small shops. In the middle of the avenue, there is the Spire, which is the world's tallest sculpture, erected in January 2003. It represents the "new Dublin", but it's also a source of teasing from the other countries. Its top is illuminated, which permits to find your way at night (and it can be really useful for people who drank too much Guinness...).

Grafton Street is a pedestrian precinct. It's one of the two principal shopping streets in Dublin city center, the other being Henry Street. There are many restaurants, shops, coffees and many artists commonly perform to the shopping crowds (anyway this scene was portrayed in the 2006 Irish film Once, which tells the story of a guy who sang and played on Grafton Street). It also contains the statue of Molly Malone, the tragic heroine of the unofficial anthem of Dublin, which has become a popular Dublin meeting place. It’s a very good place to go for a walk and listen to unexpected concerts.

Temple Bar is the touristic quarter of Dublin. It's promoted as "Dublin's cultural quarter" and has a lively nightlife that is popular with tourists. The area is the location of many Irish cultural institutions, including the Irish Photography Centre, the Ark Children's Cultural Centre, the Irish Film Institute, the Temple Bar Music Centre, the Arthouse Multimedia Centre, Temple Bar Gallery and Studio, the Project Arts Centre, etc. After dark, the area is a major centre for nightlife, with many nightclubs, restaurants and pubs. It's a very good place to go out at night!
